Explore Bath’s most painterly locations and discover the joy of watercolours under the friendly and experienced tuition of award-winning painter Catherine Beale SWA. 

Gather subjects in The Crescent/Royal Botanical Gardens or further afield and return to the Hotel garden to create your own rich watercolour from professional pigments - a lasting memory of Bath.

If you prefer to paint inside and out of the weather, Catherine’s studio (3 miles from Bath) is a rural painting haven with huge views and a library of inspirational landscape photos to choose from.

SKETCH BATH EXPERIENCE

Explore Bath’s most painterly locations and capture them in ink pen and watercolour wash under the friendly and experienced tuition of award-winning painter Catherine Beale SWA. 

Catherine will help you with tips on composition colour and techniques and all materials are included. 

Study the Hotel’s beautiful gardens or the Crescent facade, sketch Bath’s canal, Botanical Gardens or further afield and create your own lasting memory of Bath.

SKETCH THE RCH GARDEN OR CRESCENT: 2 hours - £180* 

An introduction to line and wash in the Hotel garden (under cover of the garden unbrellas if wet) or on a rug in front of the Hotel facade. For up to two people.

SKETCH BATH HALF DAY (4 hours) - £300*

Explore Bath’s two stunning waterways - the river and the canal - in ink and watercolour as they pass through the City. (Some walking and steps on route.)

For up to four people.

SKETCH BATH FULL DAY (10-4) -  £480*

A packed day sketching in ink and watercolours for up to four people. Catherine will help you discover and sketch subjects around Bath including bridges, waterways and parks. She can also help you compose and take photographs if you would like a record of scenes, colours and lighting as a source for future paintings.

A packed day of watercolours for up to four people. Includes materials, source images and Catherine’s tips on composition, colour use and trouble shooting techniques.
