The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is currently supporting two charities. Nationally Cancer Research UK and locally Bath’s Royal United Hospital’s Forever Friends Appeal.
Throughout 2014 we hope to raise much needed funds for these worthwhile causes through a mixture of prize donations and staff fundraising activities.
The Forever Friends Appeal is the charity for the Royal United Hospital in Bath. They fund projects that make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients cared for by the RUH each year, as well as the friends and family who visit them.
The current major focus of the Appeal is the RUH Cancer Care Campaign – raising £8.5m towards the cost of a pioneering new Centre for the hospital (total cost estimated at c£23.5 million).
One in three people are affected by cancer, and each year at the RUH in Bath they treat over 2,200 new cases from the hospital’s extensive catchment area.
The aim is to build a new and pioneering Cancer Centre which balances clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment – that is centred on patient care and experience, reducing stress and anxiety, whilst promoting health and thereby embracing a ‘holistic’ approach for patients and their families. The new Centre will include a dedicated cancer support centre, so they can help people to live with and through cancer, and help them deal with a life changing experience through support and a therapeutic environment.
Chairman of The Forever Friends Appeal, John Cullum, comments: “Being chosen as local Charity of the Year for The Royal Crescent Hotel is really wonderful news. We are so pleased that this luxury Bath hotel has selected to raise funds for our Cancer Care Campaign and help us to build an exceptional new Cancer Centre for the RUH – that will benefit so many people in Bath and the surrounding areas. We are looking forward to working closely with the Royal Crescent team to make 2014-2015 a memorable year of fundraising.”

No other charity anywhere in the world is doing more to beat cancer than we are. We’re the only one fighting over 200 cancers, including the one that matters most to you, and here in the UK we’re the single largest funder of cancer research. All this is only possible with our generous supporters and hard-working scientists.
Our ambition is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
Every day, our researchers make cutting edge discoveries in our labs and our doctors and nurses pioneer new treatments with patients in hospitals. That’s why our research is so vital.
We don’t receive government funding. Every pound we spend on life-saving research comes from people like you.
Research isn’t the only thing we do. Every year we help millions of people get the information they need to help them understand and cope with the disease. We run awareness initiatives to help them identify the symptoms- detecting cancer early and reducing the overall risk.
Together with our supporters we also campaign on key cancer issues including access to cancer drugs, cancer screening and reducing the harm caused by tobacco.
One day we will beat cancer. Help us make it sooner. www.cruk.org
